11-year-old sexually assaulted after man enters unlocked apartment in Bothell
BOTHELL, Wash. - Detectives are investigating a reported child sexual assault that happened in Bothell Friday morning.
According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), detectives learned that an unknown man entered a family residence and assaulted an 11-year-old child in their bedroom.
Investigators say the suspect fled the house when a second child awoke. The incident is believed to have been random.
Detectives are asking residents of the Bailey Farm Apartment Complex at 1225 183rd St. SE in Bothell to check their surveillance cameras for any activity between Thursday at 10 p.m. and Friday at 2 a.m.
The SCSO Tip Line at 425-388-3845 is available for anyone with information that could assist detectives. Those with immediate information about the suspect should call 911.
The SCSO Special Investigations Unit is actively investigating the incident.
Baily Farms also sent out an alert to residents. The email obtained by FOX 13 Seattle read:
"Dear Valued Residents of Bailey Farm:
"We understand that some of you have expressed concerns with regard to the recent police activity at our property. We can assure you that we are fully cooperating with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate. At this point, the police know much more than we do and in order to avoid jeopardizing their investigation, we would like to ask they you direct any questions that you may have to the Snohomish County Sheriff.
"With your care and comfort in mind, we increased our courtesy patrols over the coming days as the investigation continues. Should you see any issues of a non-emergency nature, please contact our courtesy patrol (Guardian).
"We thank you in advance for your understanding and appreciate. We thank you for your understanding and appreciate you continuing to make your home with us."
