Detectives investigate shooting that left woman, 57, dead in West Seattle

Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened in West Seattle on Tuesday afternoon.

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) made the initial announcement on social media around 1:26 p.m.

According to the SPD, the shooting took place near the corner of SW Hudson St. and Lewis Pl. SW.

Officers discovered a 57-year-old woman who had been shot multiple times in the torso. Officers attempted life-saving measures until the Seattle Fire Department arrived. The woman later died at the scene.

SPD said that there was not a danger to the public and that Homicide Unit detectives were investigating the circumstances that led up to the shooting. Investigators were speaking with two people at the scene.

"I can say that there were three people involved, but like I said, the public is not in danger at this time," said Seattle Officer Brian Pritchard.

FOX 13 Seattle has been digging into the property where the incident allegedly happened. Documents show that the property was in foreclosure and was sold in an auction on Sept. 30.

Neighbors said the victim and her home were well known in the community.

"She was part of the neighborhood, despite somewhat of the nutty behavior," said Chris Englund, who lives nearby. "That's what it was called. The QAnon house."

Englund believes mental health issues may have factored into the violence.

"It's what seems to be behind a lot of the issues in this country, guns and mental disabilities," he said.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
